SMS Consent & Opt-In Process

Overview

BookMobile is a SaaS booking platform for mobile service businesses (auto detailing, pet grooming, mobile mechanics, etc.). Customers book appointments through an operator's public booking page at bookmobile.app/book/[operator-slug]. During the booking process, customers may opt in to receive SMS notifications about their appointment.

Opt-In Workflow

SMS consent is collected during Step 3 ("Your Details") of the booking flow. After selecting a service and choosing a date/time, customers enter their contact information. Below the phone number field, there is an unchecked checkbox that the customer must actively check to opt in to SMS messages. SMS is never sent unless the customer checks this box.

Email is required for every booking so that every customer receives booking confirmations, reschedule links, and reminders via email regardless of whether they opt in to SMS. SMS is strictly an additional convenience for customers who explicitly consent. No customer is ever left without a communication channel.

Above shows the default state of the checkbox when a customer arrives at Step 3 of the booking form — empty and unselected. No SMS is ever sent unless the customer explicitly checks this box before submitting their booking.

Key points:

  • The checkbox is ALWAYS unchecked by default — customers must ALWAYS actively opt in. The opt-in is NEVER pre-selected.
  • SMS is only sent to customers who check the box
  • The opt-in language includes clear disclosure of message types, rates, and how to opt out
  • Links to our Privacy Policy and Terms are included directly in the consent text

Message Types & Frequency

Customers who opt in receive the following automated SMS messages:

  • Booking confirmation — sent immediately after booking (1 message)
  • Appointment reminder — sent 24 hours before the scheduled appointment (1 message)

Message frequency: Approximately 2 messages per booking.

Data Sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of personal information exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent — this information will not be shared with any third parties. Information sharing to subcontractors that directly support our service (Twilio for SMS delivery, Resend for email delivery, Supabase for data storage) is limited to what is necessary to deliver the messages you have consented to receive.

To verify our SMS opt-in flow:

  1. Visit any operator's public booking page, e.g. https://www.bookmobile.app/book/test4
  2. Step 1: Select any service
  3. Step 2: Pick a date and time
  4. Step 3: "Your Details" — the SMS opt-in checkbox is shown directly below the phone number field, unchecked by default, with the exact consent language shown above.
  5. Customers must actively check this checkbox to receive SMS. The checkbox is never pre-selected. SMS is never sent without this affirmative consent.

No login or payment is required to view the opt-in checkbox — the booking page is fully public.

  • Reply STOP to any message to immediately stop receiving SMS from BookMobile
  • Reply HELP for assistance
